Year one recap

Just a quick glance through my notes and I can see that on the 18th March 2012 I started to seriously train for Blenheim in June 2012.

I had also just bought a new set of scales, Tanita BC543, that record a whole host of metrics.

Although I had already started to lose weight, starting at 102kg, (16stone 1 lb, 225 lbs) I was already down to 98.6kb (15 stone 7 lb, 217 lbs) here are my initial weigh ins versus today (well last week!).

96 runs totalling 588.3km

79 rides totalling 1,294.9km

Results

Notes:

  • BMR explanation can be found here for the interested.
  • Physique Rate (PR) higher number is better, not sure how it’s calculated
  • Visceral Fat rating, lower is better (and I think a range on 10-1)

Analysis

Bearing in mind I had already lost 3 kgs (1/2 stone)

  • Total loss in weight of 24kg (3 stone 11s lb, 53 lbs) 24.3% body mass.
  • Total fat loss of 13.15kg (2 stone 1 lb, 29 lbs).
  • Visceral fat rating, seems a lot of that fat may have been around my organs.
  • 26 years off my metabolic age (yeah, big grain of salt there)
  • Bone loss due to less mass to carry.
  • 5.8kg loss in water, even with the higher percentage, due to fat loss.
  • Loss in kg of muscle but went from 73% to 83% muscle mass.

The first run I recorded on Strava I ran 6.2km in 41:39 with 5km PB in 33:02 and an average pace of 6:42/km.

The last run I recorded on Strava I ran 11.2km in 56:03 with a 10km PB in 49:32 and an average pace of 4:59/km.

My current 5km PB is 23:45 I ran in a 5km race in November
